Welcome

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents and families who will be a part of the Goollelal School community in 2023. Our school motto is “Sharing, Caring and Learning”, and this reflects our common goal of nurturing every child to fulfil their potential --- socially, emotionally and academically.

Here at Goollelal, we are all about the kids in the blue shirts.

Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to plan and deliver lessons using evidence-based strategies that meet the needs of every student. We are unapologetically focused on literacy and numeracy, as we know that these skills lay the foundation for all future learning. At the same time, we are equally committed to meeting your child’s social and emotional needs, as we understand that children who feel safe, secure and valued are children who are ready to learn.

In the early years, we will nurture your child to grow through an engaging balance of purposeful play-based learning and explicit teaching strategies. As your child progresses through the school, our team of expert teachers will use high-impact teaching strategies to ensure that they are making strong and consistent progress every year.

At Goollelal, we build strong, trusting relationships, particularly with parents, who are a child’s first and most important teachers. We welcome feedback and are constantly reflecting on ways that we can improve our practice to better serve your child. We will keep you informed of your child’s progress throughout the year using a range of communication processes - both formal and informal.

Goollelal Primary is at the heart of a vibrant community. We work closely with the school community and value parents as partners in educating the children in our care. As an Independent Public School, the school operates under a School Board with parent, staff and community members. We also welcome parent involvement through our active Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) and through numerous school events throughout the year.

I welcome you to our school community and look forward to meeting you soon.
